Rev. Eleanor's Blog
.2/16/10 The Olympics are on. We actually bought local TV just to watch, for these two weeks. Figure skating is fun to watch, but I must turn into a night owl, since they start just about bedtime each night. Our VCR willl play, but not record, since the new DISH receiver hooked up. Still trying to re The series I am leading at the Mt. Shasta Methodist Church 4:00 Sundays in February is most interesting. The Lost Scriptures makes it so clear what Jesus taught, that the Christian gospel has excluded. Jesus wanted us to know we are One with the Father, the Field, the Truth, etc, and don't need an intermediary, such as a priest, to guide us or pray for us. The more I read, the more New Thought Jesus sounds. Fascinating! (No wonder the Catholic Church refused to put these other Gospels into their Bible!)
. .
1/28/10 After nearly two weeks of continuing snow, satellite TV out, and power out (each lasted about 5 days, and overlapped. TV is still out til Monday, when DISH can give us a new receiver), we're nearly through our experience of primitive living. Nice to be back to a high speed computer to write to you. A shock: I actually got fired from my volunteer work at Shasta View! Concerned about an increase in grogginess among the residents, I mentioned to both my immediate "boss" and to the head nurse, that I recommended the medical dossage be checked. I was awakening the residents, and it seemed to me the medicine was putting them to sleep. Losing battle. For that, "I don't fit in" any more. Strange....I'm even asked my opinion by the head nurse at Terwilliger Plaza in Portland, as to whether I thought my 98-year-old father was on too much tranquilizers. (I didn't). Thought I was being helpful in this same vein at Shasta View. Evidently not. Reading a wonderful book, The Lost Scriptures--Books that didn't make it into the New Testament. by Ehrman. Wonderful things Jesus said, coming from a oneness consciousness, that proclaims the rest of the story. If you're here locally, check out our Sunday Messages at the Mt. Shasta Methodist Church at 4:00 in February for some enlightenment! Please let me hear from you, you are awesome and designed to express the Joy in all mankind. . .. .1/11/10 Happy New Year, my friends! A busy season has launched a new year of waking up. My husband and I were driving back from Portland, visiting my 100-year-old mother, last week. Along I-5 was a four foot tall sign in front of a garage close to the freeway. Top line said, "AMERICA"; second and third lines: "Wake UP!" A plea for Americans to discover what is going on with our country, Congress, Governers, President and all. We need to know and stop taking for granted our elected officials "know what's best for us." Not true. We are NOT a Nanny State! Yes. That is my theme and mission in life: Waking up humanity to its spiritual magnificence. Right now, in Weed, Ca., I'm holding Sunday Messages at the local Shasta View Nursing & Rehab. Center. Gradually, I am waking up some thinking, telling stories of Christ and how he declared he was the pattern for alll people. Not the exception; not to be worshipped as special. He came to do every single thing each of us must do to attain spirit consciousness, or Christ. Next I'll see if local appartment buildings would like to hold Sunday messages there for awhile. Stay tuned. Rev. Eleanor. .
I'm enjoying doing the December Sunday Services at the Shasta View Nursing & Rehab. Center in Weed. So are they. Maybe we'll continue after December. This is open to the community, but so far, only one staff member and my husband have joined the residents in this joyful celebration. If you are local and are not going to church, please join us (half a block from the Weed PO) .11/30/9 I just purchased and watched a most informative album of 4 DVDs, called Crossing the Event Horizon. Go to www.TheResonanceProject.org and watch the trailor of this informative and thoughtful ideas of the origin of life on our planet. No, not biology or evolution, more along the lines of the geometry of space-time, advanced people and instruments that were on our planet over 10,000 years ago and left all kinds of things behind. Information locked in pyramids, heiroglyphics, laser designs burned into stone, and the movement of 100,000 ton stones in themselves. Old Testament references galore! Signs carried out all throughout the ages, the world, and up to our founding fathers in Washington, DC. Check it out! . 11/20/9 Are you having trouble staying present in the moment at hand? This is a call to awaken to moments of getting lost in the mind/ego. We see this happening every day, around us, and even in us, if we are honest. At least a hundred times each day we witness someone’s criticism and realize that person is coming from fear, not Christ, or God-self. Or we may find ourselves telling others what to do; to do it my way. (It’s for their own good.) Many think judgment is permissible if it is to right a wrong, or exclude them from a group because their behavior is judged “wrong.” Let not your heart be troubled, for each time we remember to see if we are, indeed, lost in the mind and choose to become present again, we are a wee step forward in creating Peace on Earth! I see a world that works for everyone. . .
11/10/9 Todd's music is truly wonderful. Go to his website, www.ToddTanis.com and hear some yourself. Several of us bought his new CD, Sunsational, which is a collection of men's choir singing--voices are all Todd's. Our Center for Spiritual Growth is truly fortunate to meet in the beautiful Mt. Shasta Methodist Church at 4:00 Sundays. I've started passing out one-liners, such as: "Hug an idea," "Dance like polar bears," etc, when we pass the basket. (many of these are from Rev. Bob Luckin, of the Redding Center for Spiritual Living). I especially appreciate folks from the Methodist church joining us in discussions, such as, "What did Jesus really teach?" . . 11/4/9 This Sunday Todd Tanis is coming to Mt. Shasta to give us another Mini Concert. I'll also be speaking If you are local and can attend, I'd like your feedback. Todd, as usual, will be singing and playing delightful songs that he has written. Come and have fun with us! . . . 10/19/9 I am feeling more and more drawn to offer classes/groups with the intent of bringing the Christians and the New Thought people together. The connecting factor, I think, is the teaching of Jesus, seen in a broader light. Truth has many dimensions, and to take the Christian Bible literally creates a destructive separation from God. If you've read Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol, you'll see what I mean. Hidden in our Bible are the ancient mysteries. He even claims King James appointed Sir Francis Bacon, a Rosecrucian and Mason, to edit the King James version. Read the book. Write me if you're interested in shedding more light and going deeper by living the teachings of Jesus. Rev. Eleanor . . 10/7/9 More and more I'm coming to realize the combining of New Thought, where God is like a Field of loving intelligence, wherein lie all the material worlds, and the "Jesus is the only Savior" belief is inevitable. In my participating in various bible study groups, I've begun to really look at what Jesus said, and how it is misinterpreted, at least half the time. For example, church laws, beliefs or by-laws may state what the church adhers to, without ever having been recommended by Jesus--either in the Christian Bible or in the Gnostic gospels, written earlier than the books of the bible. For example, in one class recently, the acting minister of the day spoke of how Jesus, also, was tempted. I then said it was hard to believe Jesus was ever tempted. A lady said that Jesus said he was tempted, so that's all there is to it. I looked up temptation and found in Luke, I believe, "Why tempt thou me?" Jesus said to the devil. That's quite different than being tempted, don't you think? Comments? . . 10/1/9 We've just returned from Santa Fe, where my stepson, Michael was married to Sara, in a beautiful Persian (Zoraster) wedding in the Loretto Chapel. A beautiful trip, beautiful city, beatiful 3 days of wedding festivities. Now back home, I'm still drawn to the group of people in the Weed Church of Christ. For some reason, I felt a calling to return there, after a late August visit one day. These folk are authentic, welcoming, caring, and most of all...we seem to recognize each other. I look forward to reuniting with them! 9/16/9 I'm so glad we dumped the lamebrain media channels and switched to FoxNews for current events! You have no idea how much n Are you up to date on what Congress and the President are doing to America? Did you see the Tea Party Express gathering millions of people in cities from Sacramento to DC these last two weeks? Do you know about the murder of Annie Le, a Yale grad student??? Get informed! It's how we can take back our country. Comments? . .
9/10/9 Here's an interesting thought: The teachings of Jesus are really not what Christians think they are. Did Christ ever say, "Worship me?" "Bow down before me?" Did he ever say he'd be our savior? No. Only those who invented the name, Christian, think that. Even though Christ clearly said, "And these things shall ye also do, and even greater things." I see people in those days, and most still stuck there now, praising the hand that points to the moon. For Christ did nothing but encourage us to see the light within ourselves, not in the person, Jesus. "I am the light and the way. No one enters the Kingdom except by me." These are explained when we realize Jesus spoke from the I AM, not the I of his personality. No one enters into Christ Consciousness (God in man) except through the Christ. What do you think? Rev. Eleanor .
9/2/09 Ever had days when things not only don't go smoothly, but actually go backwards? Tuesday and Wednesday this week have brought projects I've been working on screaming to a halt. I've discovered I had to spend more, do more things over, wait for someone that didn't show up for my appointment; and just generally feel as if everything was coming to a crashing halt. I've just wasted much time, effort and money, to find myself in the hole. A learning experience? Of course, but I've certainly been knocked off my center. In order to return to a higher consciousness, I've had to speak outloud my meditations, and even "gentle" my ego, soothing and breathing. So this is what we're learning to do: Stay centered in the midst of chaos. Create heaven on earth no matter what, or where. Life is tough, when spiritual growth comes first. I allow. I accept. I honor myself and my life, just as it is. If you're local and reading this, know that I'm speaking at the Center for Positive Living, on Cedar in Mt. Shasta, lower level of the Methodist Church, 10:00 AM Sept. 13. Come and see that I've transcended this discouragement! Topic looks like it's shaping up to be, Living the Teachings of Jesus. We invite you..... . 8/26/09 I've had a great insight, coming from visiting a local Church of Christ bible study. When I got home, as I was telling my husband how welcoming everyone was, but that the discussion turned to gossip for about 10 minutes. I'd made up my mind not to come back, since I could get gossip with most social groups in town. but as I was telling this to Jim, I knew instantly that these wonderful people would be very open to a broadening of Jesus' words. Imagine! The only bible study I'd decided to write off my list! So it occurred to me, that there might be a shift in consciousness, and the church would evolve into the Awakened Church of Christ. What do you think?
. . 8/12/9 Still haven't heard from anyone. Do write me, so I'll be encouraged to write more often. And let me know if it's OK or not to Recently the minister of a traditional local church here called me into his office. I'd been attending their bible study for about 3 months, but he was never present, unfortunately. He had also invited the leader of that class to be with us. Upshot was, although I'd made good friends and could relate with all but one very positively, the Rev. asked me not to share my "take" on the bible verses, like the others did. This was because I was a minister. So I've accomplished the result of my guidance there: give folks a chance to hear something different, without contradicting or arguing in any way, but with support for their own beliefs. Thank you Spirit! On to the next. Meanwhile, the other bible class in town is moving forward delightfully--causing some to think more. Their minister and I have a great rapport. I'll let you know next week what happens in the next bible class I'll be starting to attend..... Fun! Rev. Eleanor
7/16/9 I'm experiencing a skin rash just now. My inner knowledge tells me that skin problems refer to caring what others think of me. Thought I'd finished with that stage of evolution. Not entirely. I'm entering a field of energy that is unfamiliar to me (Bible study classes in traditional churches.) I'm guided to be there, but I'm a bit on edge, wondering how far I can speak of God is Everywhere, meaning, also as you and me, as well as Jesus. I confess I do have concern that I'll not be able to stay in their midst, yet intellectually knowing the results are not mine to even consider. Just be there, I'm directed. So I'm wanting to be authentic and also not to go to far, or the opportunity will be lost. Ha! I guess I'm still attached to wanting to offer New Thought to those stuck in a lower consciousness. Get off it, Eleanor!
7/9/9 When Someone Corrects Me or Explains Things I have discovered I no longer wish to learn things from other people without my asking them. When family members, especially, start correcting what I'm saying, in order to "improve" my theory, I simply turn them off. I no longer wish to be "taught," given suggestions or information. I can learn better from my own insights and inspirations. Thank you just the same, dear friend. I know you mean well, but all I really want to do when we're talking together is to share some insight with you. I don't mean for you to change your thinking, but neither do I want you to change mine, "for the better." I honor the Field, of which we are all a part of, and from which we can gain just what we need for the moment.
____________________ 6/28/9 Mixing Up Beliefs Do you hang around with folks who think as you do? Birds of a feather, etc. Comfortable, isn't it? In my cozy environment of metaphysically inclined folk, I feel connected to those around me. We believe in the All of everything--the connection between all forms and between form and God. It's comfortable for us to know that God is a loving energy Field in and through all creation, visible and invisible. Therefore, it's not a huge step to realize that each of us are not an exception to this law. Why should I think I'm different, not included in the Field that is God? Yet, how hard it is to even grasp that I am, in fact, God being me. I am a spiritual being having a human experience. I am a projection of God, just as you and all forms are. Knowing this is comforting to me. So now I think it's time I expanded my comfort zone and mixed with people who believe differently. Either they deny the existance of a power greater than they are, or they pray to God religiously, or they believe that in doing certain things (helping the poor, chanting, meditating, and other rituals and disciplines) they are a good Christian/Buddhist/person. Mixing with others of diferent beliefs can help us all in understanding our differences. Indeed, honoring those differences while connecting as One is the very message Jesus came to show us. Takes us quite awhile to get this! Talk to me, Rev. Eleanor
6/18/09 Our Tenth Annual Membership Meeting of the Center for Spiritual Growth Last Sunday our Board Member that lives out of Truckee spent the day with us--walking the Labryinth, sharing the happenings of each of our three Board Members, and then presenting the meeting at the Mt. Shasta Methodist Church on Alma. Todd Tanis, our talented musician, played several of the many songs he has composed and written, ready to publish. The small group greatly appreciated his music. I gave a year's view of how our Center is Awakening Humanity to its Spiritual Magnificence--mostly by our 4:00 Sunday group and a more recent weekly volunteering at the Shasta View Nursing Cent Those folks really appreciate discussions such as Forgiveness, the article in the current Creative Thought Magazine by the Reverends Speer. I gave out copies of my book, Transcending the Lower Levels, to those who donated to our Center. Would you like to hear more? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 6/8/09 Religion or Spirituality? To me, religions are people who belief in certain precpts, dogmas, rituals, or opinions. Spirituality is actually living the words of Jesus, or Buddha, or Lao-tzu, or any high consciousness master. Spiritual growth is as essential as physical or mental growth. Often hard to do in established churches. Last Sunday I attended a local "mainstream" church, because being present with those who are still in separation thinking is helpful to all of us. Brings new thoughts into the room. I almost blew it though, wanting to stand up in church and speak my truth--right there in the Service. The minister, who is most dedicated and passionate, said, "What if God were here right now?" I wanted to say to everyone, "The presence of God is here now--where else would this energy Field of Love be, but right here, in this very room, as each of us. Look around and honor the God that you see everywhere, in every thing and every person!" I recognized Ego in me, not Divine Guidance at that moment, so I held back. But I know it will happen some day, when I feel the Presence. I am a wake up call to a higher perspective, and I love communing with those who haven't yet seen the Oneness of all. 5/26/9 Pondering Things A very small group, representing the Center for Spiritual Growth, has been meeting Sundays at 4:00 for about two years. Our purpose is Spiritual Growth, awakening to our spiritual magnificence, and thus that of humanity's. We look at each other and wonder why more people are not joining us. Are we such a small percentage of our local population that puts spiritual growth first in our lives? True, some may have conflicts, but only three of us are always present, enjoying the challenges and honest communication in the present moment each week. So we asked ourselves, why, of the dozen or so that wrote, phoned, or showed up to express interest, are we the only ones? We decided it must be fear that is keeping people in their regular circles, afraid of something new that might expose who they really were inside. Yet, those who do show up find this a loving, safe place to disclose our stumbling blocks and receive support and healing. What are your thoughts? Rev. Eleanor
. 5/16/9 More about Consciousness So now, after looking at, playing with, experiencing energy fields, I challenge you to visualize how Creation probably is. From the barest glint of consciousness, as a rock must have, expanding outward in a sphere of awareness, bring your awareness ever outward from a survival level, duality consciousness (me and not me), power, love, surrender, knowledge, wisdom, and out beyond the planet's atmosphere, moon, the stars and planets, galaxy, and on and on in Infinity. Your awareness sphere, or level of consciousness, now includes the entire universe. God within, God without. You are in all, and all is in you. You are awake. You feel the oneness of everything. There is no thought of measuring, naming, good and bad, hate and love, war, resentment, anger, hate, or anything outside of All. There is no thought. You are present in this moment. Rev. Eleanor
Tell me about yourself. Rev. Eleanor
4/29/9 Some of you may know I see clients at the Wellness Center, doing Lomi Bodywork & Counseling. These last two months, I've not received any new clients, and those who have completed a series drop out for awhile. So I decided to intensify a Spiritual Mind Treatment--seeing people coming to me, wanting what I have. In three days I had not only one, but her masseuse wanted to come as well. Placing an intent into the Field of all possibilities really works! I've been reading Paul Tillich lately. He's a religious philosopher that traditional religious people like to read. (He's so intellectual?) He gives us pause for thought, under a section called "Taking the Lord's name in vain." He points out this is much more than just not swearing. Even people who take the Lord's name in prayer often use it as a tool, getting God to give us what we want. Either way, angry at or pleading for will cause the power that is One with all of us to boomerang against the user of "the Lord". That's why I use Spiritual Mind Treatments rather than prayer (asking something of someone) Think about it. And do write! Rev. Eleanor
. 4/27/9 I had a moment of Christ Consciousness, an experience of Divine Love and Oneness yesterday. Guess where? I was in a Bible Study group at the Methodist Church! I'd been guided to once again surround myself with folks who are still believing that Jesus was the only one that was God in human form. Seemed like an age-long rigid structure to me, devoid of awakening to other possibilities. Yet they were listening, open and responsive when I suggested, "What if, just as the New Testament supercedes the Old Testament (not cancelling anything out, but fulfilling the prophesies, 10 Commandments, and stories), there was a new awareness of something bigger that supersedes the entire Christian Bible? That could even be the 'second coming of Christ,' as Christ Consciousness in all humans, 24/7, whenever we remember to BE that Love and Oneness with all forms." I spoke with passion and felt the Presence speaking as me, in the present moment. What a wonderful feeling! And each of us can jump into this consciousness whenever we remember! They were still, as the Presence made Itself known to each of them. Care to comment on your experiences? Rev. Eleanor
. 4/26/09 Hello--Are you waking up to your Spiritual Magnificence? In these days of demanding universal coverage on health insurance plans, I decided to write this letter to my editor, in Mt. Shasta, Ca. Seems to me depending on government is a debilitating path, and causes us to sleep more deeply, rather than awakening to our spiritual magnificence! Do email me your comments on this: Rev. Eleanor Here 'tis: -- printed in 2 local papers April 29 -- (in response to a letter demanding Universal Health Care--now!) Do We Want “Universal Health Care?” I am taking a risk, here, standing in a current of popular appeal that seems to be going against individuality, responsibility, and therefore, against me. First of all, health care is a misnomer. I doubt there is a single word in any health policy that refers to health, don’t you agree? In reality, we should consider Universal Illness Care. In the context of greater perspective, I see humanity’s growing consciousness starting from childhood wants and desires, teenage rebellion, and eventually into the mature attitude that each of us is responsible for him/herself. Many have already reached growing away from victim hood. (“They made me do it.”) Assuming you are one who takes responsibility for your health, wealth and happiness, why would you want a universal illness plan in the first place? This is like spending money to bet against yourself. We are in process of individualizing our selves, our needs, our very uniqueness and hopefully honoring each other’s differences. As such, recognizing the cause and effect of what we feel, think, say and do results in our illness or accident experiences in life. Have you discovered that? For example, your last accident probably found you thinking about something else. I feel very confident in predicting you were not fully present in that moment. What a wonderful to be responsible for your own health—pay as you go, and not be dependent on medical treatments, pills, or even advice; excepting rare occasions when you slip out of alignment, out of the present moment at the wrong time. I speak from experience, for I have never chosen to have “illness” insurance, and have raised three children with only a few minor broken bones. I invite you to choose a better way of living than paying for government care. Rev. Eleanor Richard, 4/23/9
